High Commissioner meets Ghana Christian Council UK and Ireland

The Reverend Canon Dr Shadrach Ofosuware led members of the Council to the meeting, which enabled the Commissioner to discuss issues affecting them, a release issued to the GNA, on behalf of the High Commission.

Papa Owusu Ankomah assured the Council of the Commission’s readiness to host and address issues of concern to them, saying his doors were “always opened to receive them to discuss issues bordering on the spiritual wellbeing of the Ghanaian nationals in the United Kingdom,” the statement said.

He assured them that the Mission would do its best to also collaborate with the Council for the benefit of every Ghanaian resident in the UK; saying that the Akufo Addo- led Government was also committed to ensuring that Ghanaians in the Diaspora exercised their franchise during the 2020 general election.

The members of the Council commended the performance of the High Commission, noting that that it had deepened engagements with Ghanaians and their organisations in the Diaspora.

The group expressed the wish to be associated with the programmes and activities being undertaken by the Diaspora Desk at the Flagstaff House of Ghana so that they could assist in the execution of the activities of the Desk, in Ghana and beyond.

The Council also commended Ghana for enacting the Representation of the People Amendment Act 2006, (Act 699) and urged the Government to take all necessary measures to enable Ghanaians living abroad to vote in the 2020 elections.

Canon Shadrach, on behalf of the Council, invited the Mission to the upcoming Ghana Independent Anniversary Thanksgiving Service, scheduled to take place on the 11th March 2018 at 1400 hours at the Methodist Central Hall, Westminster, London.
